The Performance
This part is easy if the arrangement of the song is programming based but gets more difficult the more real instruments get involved. If the recording is going to be of a band and the performances are lacking there are a lot of tools that Ashton has to fix it. Beat Detective in Pro Tools can time drums so they are perfectly on time but retain the players feel and dynamics. Bass can be moved on time to the drums so the rhythm section is locked and guitars can be moved on time as well. If the singer is pitchy or weak multiple takes can be edited together and pitch tuning is available with Antares Auto-Tune 5.0.
